Wael Qarssifi is an investigative journalist from Syria. He specialises in issues of migration, refugees, borders and human rights. He worked for over 6 years covering the issues of migration and refugees in Malaysia and South East Asia with bylines in Al Jazeera, The New Arab, ASWAQ and New Naratif.
He was part of the Migration+ Technology Monitor fellowship in 2023 where his project focused on producing original journalistic pieces in English and Malay that combat disinformation and misinformation regarding refugees and migrants in Malaysia and South East Asia.
Qarssifi works as an OSINT Investigator at the Syrian Investigative Reporting for Accountability Journalism (SIRAJ) to produce digital investigations using open source information covering Syria in collaboration with SIRAJ’s partners.
