										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p data-start="0" data-end="441">Investigative journalist with more than 15 years of experience covering Syrian and Middle Eastern affairs. He is the founder and executive director of the Syrian Investigative Reporting for Accountability Journalism unit — SIRAJ, the first investigative journalism unit in Syria. SIRAJ aims to promote a culture of investigative and in-depth reporting in newsrooms and to provide training and professional development for Syrian journalists.</p>
<p data-start="443" data-end="819">Bassiki’s investigations focus on public spending, financial investigations, tracing funds, budgets and companies, as well as human rights violations. He produces and publishes collaborative investigations on Syria with international and Arab investigative teams, with the aim of promoting transparency, creating accountability, and strengthening laws in times of uncertainty.</p>
<p data-start="821" data-end="1209">Bassiki has been a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) in Washington, D.C., United States, since May 2023, and is a member of its Communications and Outreach Committee. His investigations were selected among the best investigations from the Middle East and North Africa in 2022 by the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) — Editors’ Picks.</p>
<p data-start="1211" data-end="1448">Bassiki collaborates with the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), the international investigative newsroom Lighthouse Reports, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, El País, Finance Uncovered in the United Kingdom, and others.</p>
<p data-start="1450" data-end="1866" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node="">The investigations Bassiki has worked on have been nominated for several international awards, including the 2026 European Press Prize, the 2025 Shining Light Award, the True Story Award in Bern, Switzerland, in 2024, the 2022 Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize for Journalism for cross-border journalism from the European Union in Strasbourg, France, and the International Center for Journalists award in Washington, D.C.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ali Al Ibrahim is an award-winning investigative journalist, General Director, and founder of SIRAJ, a unit for investigative journalism. With over 15 years of experience, he is renowned for his impactful investigations into abuse of power, human rights violations, corruption, and financial misconduct.</p>
<p>Ali has collaborated with prominent international media outlets such as OCCRP, The Guardian, and BBC, earning him prestigious accolades including the BBC’s Best Young Journalist Award and the Samir Kassir Award for Freedom of the Press. He is also recognized by the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN). He was also awarded in Outstanding Investigative Reporting from FJA in 2022 and the AACR June L. Biedler Prize Journalism in the United States in 2023.</p>
<p>He is a TED Fellow and a fellow at the Oxford Centre for Journalism Studies. Ali studied in the Entrepreneurial Journalism Creators Program at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, City University of New York.<br />
As a media consultant, Ali collaborates with a diverse array of national and international media NGOs such as International Journalists’ Network (IJNet) to develop journalism education curricula. His work includes defining strategic goals for long-term methodologies in investigative journalism training projects, as well as incorporating best practices, ethics, and the effective use of artificial intelligence in investigative work.</p>
<p>He also provides training sessions aimed at enhancing the skills of journalists in the Middle East and North Africa region, focusing on investigative journalism techniques and the integration of artificial intelligence in investigative processes.</p>

She has experience leading ambitious cross-border investigations connecting Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean. She has worked with international teams to uncover opaque supply chains, environmental malpractice, urban planning failures, and corporate accountability issues, with support from international grants including Journalismfund Europe, CIJI, IJ4EU, and others.</p>
<p data-start="518" data-end="1047">She combines extensive field reporting with public records and financial registry research, FOI requests, data analysis, and OSINT tools. She has coordinated several successful cross-border journalism teams, including <em data-start="738" data-end="750">Scrap Wars</em> (2025), a collaboration with The New Arab, SIRAJ, and El País, which uncovered how Turkey’s booming recycled steel industry is fuelled by scrap metal from war-torn countries such as Syria. The investigation ultimately contributed to Lebanon’s decision to ban scrap metal imports from Syria.</p>
<p data-start="1049" data-end="1284">Her work has been shortlisted for the 2026 European Press Prize and the One World Media Awards. Her investigations have appeared in The New Arab, La Repubblica, Follow the Money, New Lines Magazine, and IrpiMedia, among others.</p>
<p data-start="1286" data-end="1556" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node="">For SIRAJ, she works part-time as Programs Manager, leveraging her experience in project management and grant writing. Before embarking on her journalism career, she gained experience working in the humanitarian and development sectors in Libya, Tunisia, and Turkey.</p>

research.</p>
<p>Before joining SIRAJ, he served as the Editor-in-Chief of Syria Direct, a bilingual English-<br />
Arabic in-depth reporting platform covering Syria and the Syrian diaspora. He was also the<br />
Research Manager for Southern Syria at the Stabilisation Response Mechanism (SRM) Program<br />
implemented by Adam Smith International.</p>
<p>Mr. Rachwani has held other editorial roles, including the Opinion Editor and Columnist for<br />
Jordan’s Al-Ghad Daily and Qatar’s Al-Arab Daily.</p>
<p>His academic involvement includes fellowships at prestigious institutions, such as the Draper<br />
Hills Summer Fellowship at Stanford University’s Center on Democracy, Development, and the<br />
Rule of Law and the Atkin Fellowship at the International Centre for the Study of Radicalization<br />
and Political Violence (ICSR) at King’s College London.</p>
<p>Mr. Rachwani holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Al al-Bayt University in Jordan<br />
and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Jordan.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Wael Qarssifi is an investigative journalist from Syria. He specialises in issues of migration, refugees, borders and human rights. He worked for over 6 years covering the issues of migration and refugees in Malaysia and South East Asia with bylines in Al Jazeera, The New Arab, ASWAQ and New Naratif.</p>
<p>He was part of the Migration+ Technology Monitor fellowship in 2023 where his project focused on producing original journalistic pieces in English and Malay that combat disinformation and misinformation regarding refugees and migrants in Malaysia and South East Asia.<br />
Qarssifi works as an OSINT Investigator at the Syrian Investigative Reporting for Accountability Journalism (SIRAJ) to produce digital investigations using open source information covering Syria in collaboration with SIRAJ’s partners.</p>
